| "Tech Tip" for intake manifold systems. Another case of bigger is not better. Because of the relatively low RPM we turn our engines, velocity is more important than total volume. When building your own intake, the intake I.D. should be no larger than 1.4". Also remember that shorter is better. The shorter the run from the carb to the intake valve, the more consistent the mixture will be and velocity will be higher. Long runs can actually pool the fuel vapors again causing a rich condition on individual cylinders. |
